What is modern Buddhism?

Modern Buddhism is the application of the Buddhist paths of compassion and wisdom to modern daily life. It is an international movement without affiliations to any specific country or culture founded by the contemporary Buddhist master Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso

Modern Buddhism brings the ancient wisdom of Buddha into the modern world free from any cultural trappings and shows how to integrate Buddhist meditation and other practices into our busy lives.

You do not have to be a Buddhist to attend modern Buddhism events or to benefit from them.

What is a modern Buddhism event?

A modern Buddhism event is a public talk, evening class, day course or longer course given by a qualified Teacher of modern Buddhism. There are thousands of such events held each week in over 40 countries around the world.

On this website you will find information about events given by Gen-la Kelsang Dekyong a western Buddhist nun and international meditation Teacher who is a tireless proponent of modern Buddhism.

Gen-la Dekyong is General Spiritual Director of an extensive international network of modern Buddhist centres, (NKT-IKBU) and as such is the principal spiritual representative of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.

She is resident at Manjushri Kadampa Meditation Centre in Cumbria, England, which is the mother centre of the global organization, and travels widely teaching at modern Buddhism events all over the world.
